For students in engineering, business and IT schools, the end-of-studies internship (stage PFE) is often the first step into a company, and sometimes the first job offer. The best ones are taken early. Here's how to land yours.

Start early

Many companies publish their PFE offers between October and February, for internships that start in February or March. Start applying three to five months before your start date, and keep a simple list of where you applied and when.

Where to look

Combine several channels:

  • The companies' official careers pages: most large groups post their internships there
  • Your school's internship office and its partner companies
  • LinkedIn, by following the companies you're interested in
  • Spontaneous applications to the teams you'd like to join

A CV built for an internship

Put your education first, then your projects: end-of-year projects, hackathons, freelance work. Describe each project like a job: the problem, what you built, the result. One page is enough.

From internship to job

Treat the internship as a long interview: ask for regular feedback, document what you deliver, and say early that you'd like to stay. Many companies hire their interns.
