What the checker looks at

Can an ATS read you?

  • Readable textLittle or no text could be read: export your resume as a text PDF from Word or Google Docs, not a scan or an image.
  • Email addressAdd your email address at the top, as plain text.
  • Phone numberAdd a phone number with its country code (+212…).
  • LinkedIn profileAdd the link to your LinkedIn profile: recruiters look at it.

The sections it looks for

  • Summary or profileOpen with a 2 to 3 line summary of who you are and what you're looking for.
  • Experience sectionAdd an “Experience” heading so the ATS finds your jobs.
  • Education sectionAdd an “Education” heading with your degrees.

  • Measurable resultsAdd figures: percentages, amounts, team sizes, time saved.
  • DatesGive dates for every job and degree (month and year).
  • No unneeded personal detailsRemove your date of birth, marital status and nationality: they're not needed and can lead to bias.
